Ingredients of Udupi style Rava idli

  1. You need to prepare 1 cup of idli rava.
  2. You need to prepare 1 of grated carrot.
  3. You need to prepare 7-8 of cashews.
  4. Prepare 4-5 of curry leaves.
  5. You need to prepare 1 tbsp of chana dal.
  6. Prepare 1/2 tbsp of urad dal.
  7. You need to prepare 2 tbsp of oil.
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp of turmeric powder.
  9. You need to prepare 1 tbsp of mustard seeds.
  10. You need to prepare 1 tbsp of cumin seeds.
  11. Prepare 2 pinches of asafoetida.
  12. You need to prepare 1 1/2 cup of curd.
  13. Prepare as required of Chopped green coriander.
  14. Prepare 1/2 tbsp of baking soda or eno.
  15. Prepare 1 tbsp of salt.
  16. You need to prepare 2 tbsp of grated coconut powder.

Udupi style Rava idli directions

  1. Firstly soak chana dal and urad dal for 25 minutes. And grate carrot..
  2. Heat a pan and add oil, mustard seed, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves keep stirring till popup. Now add lentils like chana dal & urad dal and saute it well..
  3. Further, add grated carrots and stri well till it shrinks. Now include rava to this seasoning..
  4. Roast the rava till it turns aromatic. ensure that it is not burning.let the rava cool down to room temperature..
  5. Next, take a big vessel add curd and mix it. After that mix salt, dry grated coconut powder, eno or baking soda and chopped green coriander. Combine all these together in a idli batter consistency..
  6. Add some water if needed. And keep stir for few minutes. Now idli batter is ready..
  7. Greace the idli mould with oil. And pour idli batter to greaced mould and sprinkle cashews and grated carrots..
  8. Keep steamer with water on gas and let it start boiling. And put idli moulds in steamer for steaming for 25-30 minutes. Keep checking idli with knife..
  9. Once it done, take it out idli from steamer. And serve it with sambhar and coconut chutney..
